     --The Geekpin

Continuing from the 2002 series, the comic begins with Snarf talking to the Book of Omens. Snarf is not mentally stable because he is holding both sides of a conversation about using a key to open the book of omens. Snarf uses the key to enter the book and finds Lion-O training.

Lion-O believes he has been in the book for a day, but Snarf tells him he has been in the book for five years. Snarf then recounts that during the first year of Lion-O's absence, the Thundercats and Thundera thrived.

The Thundercats rebuilt their civilization with Panthro in charge.

Thundercats returned to Thundera, and the civilization began to boom.

One night Mumm-Ra attacked with hundreds of mutants from Plunddar.

In that one night Mumm-Ra and the mutants killed, conquered, and enslaved all of the Thundercats. Snarf escaped, seemingly under Mumm-Ra's nose, with the Book of Omens. Mumm-Ra gave Slithe the key to the book and told him to destroy it. Slithe discarded the key in a location where he thought no one would find it. After five years, Snarf located the key. Lion-O and Snarf return to Thundera and the devastation and change in Thundera is immediately evident. There are statues of Mumm-Ra and Ma-Mutt, mass devastation of the landscape, and no Thundercat structures standing. Lion-O uses the Eye of Thundera to locate Panthro and sees that he is being forced to work in the mines. At this point, the comic turns to the point of view of Mumm-Ra. Mumm-Ra, speaking to Ma-Mutt, explains that he has been bored, but he is excited now that Lion-O is back. Mumm-Ra knew that Slithe would not destroy the key and that Snarf would free him. Mumm-Ra calls his servants into his chambers for something, and the audience sees Wilykit and Wilykat as adults.

1. Thundercats:The Return

Thundercats (Volume 1) was a limited series, published by WildStorm Productions. It ran from 2002 until 2003. Picks up where the cartoon left off with the Thundercats on New Thundera. This is also the beginning of an evil subplot Mumm-Ra will unleash in a future story.

In honor of the new ThunderCats comic by Dynamite. Here are the 5 best ThunderCats comic series (Crossovers not included).

5. ThunderCats: Hammerhand's Revenge

When the Thundercats’ homeworld is destroyed, a small group of survivors crash-lands on the mysterious green world known as Third Earth. They soon find themselves in a desperate fight for survival against their mortal enemies the Mutants. However, things go from bad to worse when their battle with the vile Mutants awakens Mumm-Ra, an ancient ogre-mage whose dark magic powers know no rival. Some issues were original while others were episode adaptations from the series and lasted for 24 issues.

T-Notes: Thundercats was published by Marvel UK in 1987 and lasted for 129 issues. Issues 79 to 83 were named Thundercats and Galaxy Rangers.

A new take on the 'Cats by the hot creative team of Fiona Avery and Carlos D'Anda! The Berserkers, once defeated by the Thundercats, have returned, and they want vengeance! They capture ThunderCats' ally Hachiman, the powerful Samurai warrior, and hold him for ransom. But when the Thundercats get involved, it turns out that this is exactly what Hammerhand, leader of the Berserkers, was hoping for!

Thunder-Note: Do not recommend reading. The actual plot is secondary as Lion-O & the other ThunderCats spent more time on their sidequest.
