Thoughts & Spoilers: For the non-comic readers Jaime is a high school graduate, not a college graduate and he's from El Paso (which I think is the street they live on in the film), Texas not Palmera City. This movie is DC's Black Panther featuring Hispanic people as the focus talent. Now that we have that clear. Right off the jump, this film felt like it was possibly made by the scrapbooker David Goyer. It had a touch of several scenes & ideas from other superhero movies such as...

--The Geekpin

I like the many cultural references especially when Grandma was talking about the tunnels. I do find it very coincidental that everyone was Hispanic except the real villains 😂. When Jenny and the Reyes family were taking off in the Beetle the scene felt like it should've had some kind of James Gunn type of music playing at that moment. The moment was very emotional and I'll admit I got a lil teary eye a few times. Far as rewatch value possible can see it twice and after that, it'll be once in a blue-moon type. Speaking of a blue moon, Budweiser, really? No one is drinking Corona or Dos Equis during the party. I'm assuming Budweiser was a possible sponsor for this film. I was really hoping for a Booster Gold cameo. There are 2 end credits but you only need to stay for the first one.

Score: 9.4 (Near Mint

P.S.-I did DCEU Ranking not too long ago. if anyone was curious this film would be "5th" putting it between both of the Shazam films.

Blue Beetle is a 2023 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle, produced by DC Studios and The Safran Company. The film was directed by Ángel Manuel Soto and written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. It is the 14th installment of the DCEU (if you don't count the Snyder Cut) & first canonically in the DCU. The film stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle alongside Adriana Barraza

(Nana), Damián Alcázar (Alberto Reyes), Raoul Max Trujillo (Carapax),

Susan Sarandon (Victoria Kord), and George Lopez

Plot: Jaime Reyes is a college graduate from Palmera City (which looks kinda like a futuristic Metropolis planted in Florida) who accidentally bonded with a biotechnological alien scarab, which then manifests a weaponized suit of armor. He then uses these powers to become the third Blue Beetle.

-Incredible Hulk:The intro pretty much self-explains Kord Industries, Ted Kord Blue Beetle, Victoria, and OMAC origin.

-Iron Man: Khaji-Da testing the armor/host was almost like Tony when he was testing his armor.

-Iron Man 2: Carapax was a two-in-one villain just like Crimson Dynamo. The energy whip was perfect and funny cuz I called him Whip Lash when he first showed up.

-Ms. Marvel: Jaime's family reminds me of Kamala Khan's supportive family and a grandmother who has an interesting past. Jaime's family is superior to Kamala's. I love Grandma and his father.

-Ant-Man: When in Ted's underground lair there are a few mannequins with costumes on it. One of the mannequins is a female body with no suit. The screen zooms in on this one multiple times like it's hinting Jenny will become a superhero in the future. It reminded me of Hope becoming Wasp.

-Shazam:The iconic jumping off the roof while activating his power to go rescue his family like.

-Captain Marvel: Jaime was held prisoner in the same looking device as Carol Danvers was by the Skrulls.

-Man of Steel: Jaime's dad dies went going back to save his daughter. In MoS, Pa Kent died by going back to save the dog.

-Black Panther / Man of Steel / Deadpool 2: Jaime talks to his father in the afterlife (Black Panther), who tells Jaime he loves him and his purpose in life (MoS) and it's not his time yet (Deadpool 2).

-No Way Home / Batman V Superman: Jaime in a rage wants to kill Carapax for killing his father and Khaji-Da stops him so they could have a "Martha moment" in which the Scarab shows Jaime the memories of Carapax and just like that Jaime no longer wants to kill him.
