Plot Recap: Secret Invasion is the latest (ninth) Marvel Studios television miniseries on Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics storyline of the same name. It follows Nick Fury and his allies, who attempt to thwart a Skrull invasion of Earth. Talos uncovers a conspiracy by a group of renegade Skrulls led by Gravik to gain control of Earth by assuming positions of power across the world, recruiting Nick Fury to stop it and save humanity.

My Thoughts: So like a standard Marvel Disney Plus show so far. The first episode gives you the bare minimum of everything and a lot of questions that were semi-answered but won't fully be answered til episode 3 (usually something important happens in the third episode out of six) or 4. For this review, I wrote all my thoughts for each episode as they aired to keep everything genuine...

Secret Invasion

(Series Review)

Overall Review: GABBABE!!! This series was a disappointment! Watching this makes me more upset about the Writers' Strike. These cats want more/better wages but they come up with crap-ass series like this. The more things I watch the more I'm like fuck giving them more money. I'm an old fashion person who worked many jobs good and bad but the standard job policy was: the better you do your job the more money you make when you get your raise. I'm not nor have I seen good quality writing in Hollywood in the last 10 years. Everything we received in the last 10 years is an adaption or remake. It's probably why Oppenheimer and Barbie did so well because they're the closest thing to an original movie we've seen in a long time.

Anyway, I'm getting off track here, far as suspense and "who you can trust", Agents of SHIELD did it the best with the LMD Saga. This was just a pure waste of time. Six episodes, roughly 30+ minutes each, and no post-credit endings. I'm going to try this series like The Inhumans and say it doesn't exist. Secret Invasion doesn't connect well with what we saw from Wandavision and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Rhodey being the Skrull Avenger was a total cop-out especially. The Skrulls were a joke in this series. Hydra felt more dangerous than the Skrulls did. What's worse about this series is we lose 2 great characters for no reason. The MCU was at its best when they were working with the folks at Marvel Comics

Series Score: 6.0 (Fine)

Ep 2:

-The Skrulls were dumb to trust a mofo who never traveled the galaxy to find them a new planet to live on.

-I hate Rhodey even more.

-Reaction to the waiter bringing Fury and Rhodes another drink:

"Thank you, Linus."

-Reaction to Rhodey firing Fury: "You SUPER MOTHERFUCKING UNCLE TOM!"

-When Fury told Rhodey "I'm Nick Fury. Even when I'm out, I'm in." That's literally a tagline I've said when referring to myself.

-I wonder if Rhodey is a Skrull? 🤔

-They cooking up Super Skrulls.

-Is Falsworth a Skrull (or Skrull Queen)? 🤔

-Cliffhanger--This ninga is married to a Skrull! 😮

Ep 3:

-Fury does know his wife is a Skrull. #SkrullFever

-Lots of personal thoughts about Fury's character.

-Talos and Fury are probably gonna end up fighting each other toward the end of the series.

-Blink and you'll miss it but when G'iah was leaving the human prison area I think I saw a captured Rhodey in the background.

-I don't think G'iah is dead.

-Oh shit Rhodey might be a Skrull.

Ep 4:

-Oh wow G'iah isn't dead 😑

-Fury's wife asked him if would he love her if she was her true self reminded me of Lois Lane #106 when Lois asked Superman if he would love her if she was black.

-Oh wow Rhodey is a Skrull. 😑 (kinda sorry about the Uncle Tom comment).

-Mmm Pappy Van Winkle. 😋

-TALOS!!! 😭😭😭

Ep 5:
-
The crew said fuck Gravik and fucked him up and he fucked them up back.

-Why did Fury collect the Avengers D.N.A.?

Ep 6:
-
Oh look G'iah was posing as Fury. 😑 Fury said they need to stop depending on superheroes and use a Superpowered Skrull instead. Terrible writing!!!

-Gravik died fairly easily with the powers of EVERYONE from Phase 1-3. With the combined power of Hulk & Extremis, should Gravik heal from that hole in his stomach?

-Capture Rhodey is now wearing a hospital gown (in episode 3 it looked like he was wearing a suit). I guess they were backtracking to let us know how long Rhodey has been captured. He's been a Skrull since after Civil War which is terrible.

-Not sure how I feel about the ending between the Skrull hunt & Fury's kiss with Vaara.
